MIDDLE SCHOOL MERIT AWARDS (GRADES 6 & 7)

Focusing on academic excellence and extracurricular distinction, Chatsworth Hills Academy is proud of its Middle School Merit Award Program. Chatsworth Hills Academy offers a Merit Scholarship Program for grades 6-8 to recognize students of outstanding character and achievement. Recipients are chosen through a very selective process.

Merit Awards are based on an evaluation of each applicant's: (1) qualifying test results (Educational Records Bureau/ERB; Independent School Entrance Exam/ISEE; STAR; Stanford SAT); (2) academic and extracurricular achievement; (3) teacher and counselor recommendations; and (4) personal interview with a CHA representative. Awards of up to $1,000 may be given to qualifying students upon entrance into the 6th grade. Once received, the Merit Awards are renewable each year through the Middle School program as long as the recipient maintains high standards in areas of academics, character, citizenship, and service while attending CHA.

The Merit Award Program is designed to support the school's Mission and expand enrollment of highly qualified students. The deadline to apply for a Merit Award is Friday, February 25, 2011. All interested applicants or their parents should contact Ann Gillinger, Head of School, at meritaward@chaschool.org or (818) 998-4037 for more information.

Committed to selective enrollment in Early Childhood (ages 2 1/2 - 5) through Grade 8, Chatsworth Hills Academy is a college preparatory school established in the liberal arts tradition. Placing its Middle School graduates in very selective secondary schools is not only the goal at CHA, it is an integral part of the CHA Mission. Since the school's first graduating class of eighth graders in 1997, CHA students have enrolled at numerous highly selective independent schools including Buckley, Campbell Hall, Harvard Westlake, Oakwood, Viewpoint, and Wildwood. In addition, graduates have attended Chaminade, Crespi, Louisville, New Community Jewish High School, Notre Dame, Oaks Christian and Sierra Canyon High School. Many students have also gained admittance to magnet or honors programs at all public high schools in the surrounding area.

As one of only 2,000 independent schools in the nation, Chatsworth Hills Academy girls and boys are part of a very selective group of only 700,000 students in the United States who enjoy a truly unique and high quality education. CHA is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and accredited by both the California Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Chatsworth Hills Academy encourages and welcomes applications from students without regard to race, religion, color, national or ethnic origin and does not discriminate in the administration of educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid programs, athletic programs, or extra curricular programs.
