Don't want to commit to a full day at camp? Try our exciting Academy Workshops. Taught by experts in their field, these exciting mini-courses are sure to please! Most camps are one week long from 9-11 am Monday-Thursday.

Red Cross Babysitting (Grades 5 - 8)
June 20 - 24
9:00 - 10:30 a.m.

Do you want to be a babysitter that people want to hire? With the Red Cross Babysitting Class, you will learn how to make responsible decisions, identify common safety hazards, and interview for babysitting jobs. Included in the course are a workbook, skill cards, hands-on practice, and an American Red Cross Authorized Certification.

Taught by Soraya Deen, M.A., an American Red Cross certified instructor who provides training on behalf of the American Red Cross to a wide range of clients, including the Boy Scouts of America, youth groups, and top corporations.

 

Drama Production Alice in Wonderland
(4 weeks) Grades 5-8

CHA'S Drama Workshop is proud to present Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. With one tumble, Alice's life is completely upside down! Join CHA's Drama Workshop this summer to bring this classic tale to life. The Drama session will run June 20 - July 15 and will conclude with a performance in the CHA amphitheatre on July 15. In addition to acting, you will be immersed in helping to construct the set, manage props, and create costumes. Sign up now! Don't be late, or it's "Off with your heads!"

Magic and Mayhem (Grades 1 - 8)

Shawn McMaster doesn't play by the rules. He uses no live animals, magic wands, or cheesy-looking props. Instead he offers sophisticated, high-energy, interactive programs punctuated with astonishment and hilarity that have made him a highly-regarded professional who is constantly working in clubs, private engagements, and the corporate world.

Handbells (Grades 3 - 8)
July 5 - 15

Did you ever wonder what it would be like to play in a handbell choir? Now's your chance! Learn how to ring handbells and chimes as part of CHA's Academy Workshops program. The Handbell workshop will be offered July 5 - 15. Be part of the CHA Handbell Choir and "ring" in a special concert on Friday, July 15 in the CHA amphitheatre. No prior musical experience is necessary.

Foodtastic! Cooking Camp (Grades 1-8)
July 18 - 22 / July 25 - 29
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Bring your apron and join us for some summertime fun as we chop, stir, mix, and measure our way to daily delights that we will enjoy together at the kitchen table! Explore cooking and develop cooking skills, while learning about cleanliness and food handling, the math and science of food in measurement and nutrition, ingredient selection, setting a proper table, etiquette, and so much more! At the final class of the session, culinary campers will bring home their own personalized cookbook with the recipes that they learned to create during the workshop.

If you love art, this is the place for you! In this hands-on workshop class, we will be painting, drawing, and sculpting as we learn about the great masterpieces of art at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. To add to the fun, we'll spend all day

Thursday actually visiting the museum for a special tour with CHA's own award-winning art teacher, Mrs. Bloom!

Beads and Bangles!
(Grades 1-8)

Have you always wanted to make your own jewelry? We will be making beads, stringing necklaces and bracelets, and creating papier mache bangles in this hands-on jewelry-making class. All ages welcome! Taught by Mrs. Bloom, CHA Art Teacher.
